As we age, several features of our face can change over time, leading to an appearance that might make us feel self-conscious. The brow and forehead are features of the face that are particularly affected by gravity. With age, they can become lowered or drooping in appearance. The brow lift is a popular procedure to give the upper face a more lifted, youthful look, restoring confidence and spirit.
What Is a Brow Lift?
A brow lift is also called a forehead lift, and it can address several aesthetic issues in the upper facial region, including: frown lines, brows that are sagging in appearance, eyebrow placement, and wrinkles along the upper nose or forehead. This procedure is designed to minimize or eliminate visible signs of aging or sagging in order to give patients a more youthful, smooth look. This procedure is often performed at the same time as other procedures, including eyelid surgery.
Who Is a Candidate for a Brow Lift?
Although this procedure is popular, unfortunately, not everyone is an ideal candidate. Candidates for a brow lift are experiencing emotional distress or physical issues due to the appearance of their brow and forehead. Ideal candidates should be non smokers or should be prepared to stop smoking leading up to the surgery, and they should also strive to live a generally healthy lifestyle. We also expect candidates to be open with us about their expectations and their medical history so we can decide, in collaboration, if this procedure is the best fit.
What to Expect During a Brow Lift Procedure
Certain supplements and anti-inflammatories, including aspirin and fish oil, can lead to excess bleeding during surgery. You might be advised to avoid these and other medications around the time of your surgery. Our team will go over any risks with you at length. Someone should be ready to transport you to the surgery and to drive you back home, and you should also have someone there to stay with you and attend to you during the first night of your recovery at home.
You’ll either be given general or local anesthesia, depending on your needs, to make sure you’re comfortable while the surgery is taking place. There are several techniques that might be used, depending on your anatomy and expected results. An endoscopic incision consists of tiny incisions in the hairline, through which an endoscope–a tube that is connected to a camera–is inserted. This lets us reposition tissue and/or muscle below the skin. A coronal incision, on the other hand, is a larger incision that stretches from one ear to the other. For either technique, incisions will be closed after the tissue is repositioned and wrinkles are minimized.

Tape and/or bandages will be applied to the affected area to reduce any swelling. In many cases, we’ll insert a small tube to collect any draining fluid. This will be removed later. During your recovery, keep your head in an elevated position when you’re resting. Excessive physical activity should be avoided. Ice packs or heating elements should not be used in the area during recovery. Our team will give you thorough instructions on how to take care of yourself at home, including steps for wound care and pain management.
